Artist Statement

I enjoy illustrating various scenes that evoke emotions while experimenting with different styles and materials. Although I work with both digital and traditional media, I mostly enjoy using water-based mediums such as watercolour, ink and gouache, as it often naturally creates textures and "happy little accidents" like the colours moving around and blend into each other that give a unique sense of personality to the art. However, lately, digital media has been my favourite medium as it allows me to keep adjusting and undoing aspects to my perfectionist heart's content.

While creating my artworks that consists of vibrant colour schemes and elements inspired by nature, I like to research into various fields depending on the subject matter to gain more knowledge and add more depth as well as references to my pieces. I also tend to get inspired by various film media and artists that have a whimsical and fantasy style. I hope to create art that can give people a sense of positivity, nostalgia and comfort through light or dark times. My current project is experimenting with 3D forms, it is a mixed media piece using paint on resin and wood that conveys personal familial themes of reconnection through the new norm of distance and lack of physical presence.
