Painting
I was inspired by a moment in the Disney movie Tangled (2010), I created a more abstract and 'impressionist' version of the lantern scene using acrylic paint.
This is a 10x15cm painting that I had initially done, it was just to lay out the image and colours in my mind, then I decided to use this as reference for the final and bigger version (29.5cm x 42cm).

Harmony is a series of 5 paintings that shows peaceful and mystical scenes of marine life in harmony with their environment. All the pieces are connected through their focus on the aquatic flora and fauna, vibrant colour scheme as well as all have a feeling of movement as the creatures move out of the white borders. I created these pieces using watercolour, ink, pens on watercolour paper and added some acetate plastic for embellishment.
I was wondering about how humans have not explored the deepest parts of the ocean and depicted my imagination of vibrant pink crystals and glowing jellyfish swimming around in the darkness.
Rather than being underwater like the other pieces, this perspective is from above the water as there are lily pads on the surface. This scene is inspired by koi fish in the koi ponds which I see quite often and koi fish have many symbolisms as well as represent love and friendship.

This is a piece I created in 2018, for the Sakura Pigma Manga Contest with the theme "Its Our Country", i used the Sakura Koi watercolour set, gelly roll and micron pens. I used the national indian bird and animal to represent india, the peacock symbolizes beauty and elegance whereas the tiger contrasts but compliments as it symbolises strength and courage. The animals together also consists the colours from the indian flag.
Tranquility is an surrealism painting I made in 2018 of two whale sharks. First I painted the background using acrylic paint then I used a black pen to sketch the contour lines which created the effect of the whale sharks. By splitting the page with blue and orange, they both compliment and contrast each other as well as emphasised the difference of the two whale sharks swimming alongside, these colours also create a sense of joy and peace which I feel represents these gentle giants.
In 2018, I created this collage after visiting the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore. It consists of watercolour/pen illustrations of the birds, leaves collected from the park and the ticket.
This is a little interactive feature! I painted the outer appearance of the bird using acrylic on wax paper and placed the skeleton study underneath (referenced from the one exhibited in the museum area).
